Gubra
Why do we hurt the ones we love the most? Gubra is a film of love, betrayal, friendship, regrets and happiness. The word Gubra gets its title from the Malay word that means; worry or anxiety. It was a Malaysian movie released in 2006 as the sequel to Sepet directed by the same director, Yasmin Ahmad and was followed by Mukhsin. All movies are available at Shop Malaysia.
The story of Gubra is about Orked who is married to Ariff, a man who is very much older than her. The plot starts when Orked’s father falls sick and is rushed to the hospital. It is there that Orked meets Alan, Jason’s older brother and former lover. At the time when her family is in the midst of dealing with the father’s illness, Orked suspects that husband has been unfaithful. On a separate side of the story, Temah and Kiah who work as prostitutes get involved with a holy person and his wife. Temah sends her out of wedlock son to the holy person to learn the Quran and along the way faces lots of tribulations.
This Malaysian movie has a lot of drama in it and anxiety. It is about two different unrelated stories. Both in different worlds and problems and sadness but there is the common element of love.
