Sepet
Sepet, another highly acclaimed Malaysian movie about an unforgettable love story between a boy and a girl of different cultures and religion. Sepet is a Malay word which is a typical word used in Malaysia to refer to the Chinese ‘slit eyes’. Sepet was released in 2004 and was followed by Gubra and later Mukhsin, revolving around a young girl named Orked. All these movies were directed by Yasmin Ahmad, who received several recognitions for her work.
Sepet is about Jason, a young Chinese boy who finds love with young Orked. Jason, unlike his rough life style, loves romance and is into poetry. Love blossoms between Orked and Ah Loong, although social and racial pressures loom. Jason then meets with an accident and ……
